Frequently Asked Questions
Well, we have a couple of reasons:
- A physical, occupational or recreational therapist or therapist assistant is on site for every program to ensure the safety and success of each participant.
- One-on-one volunteer assistance also ensures the safety of our athletes, and our parents also enjoy being able to sit on the sidelines and cheer!
- We do not own a central facility. Our athletes prefer to compete in traditional athletic facilities and busy parents appreciate that our programs are hosted throughout Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Plus, the money we save helps fund additional programs.
- People with disabilities are much more likely to lead sedentary lives and, consequently develop secondary conditions like diabetes, respiratory failure, osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease.
- Participants’ see marked improvements in strength, coordination and flexibility.
- Physical, creative and social activities reduce the occurrence of depression.
- Parents and teachers report seeing improvements in behavior, academics and social interaction among our participants.

Kinetic Kids brings programs to you throughout Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. We do not have a single, central facility, instead we choose to host our adapted programs in the same arenas where sports are traditionally conducted and then we funnel our savings into additional programming.
Our programs run in seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall. Most recreational programs run 6-8 weeks long, but there are monthly competitive programs and a variety of one-day programs as well. Click here to access schedules at all four locations.
Our ultimate goal is that parents have time to sit back, relax, and enjoy their child’s accomplishments during the program. While we encourage parents to share helpful information with our staff, we offer plenty of help for our participants. A therapist or therapist assistant (physical, occupational, speech or recreational) will be present at each program to ensure your child’s safety and success. Plus, many of our volunteers are college students pursuing a degree in pediatric or health-related fields. All of our volunteers go through background checks and training and are committed to working with children with special needs.
You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer independently. Volunteers ages 14-16 years must be paired with an adult or parent. Children under 14 years old may only observe.
